THE AUSTRALIAN YOUTH CHINESE ORCHESTRA
The Sydney Youth Chinese Orchestra was founded by Ms. Dong Min, founder of the Sydney Meya Conservatory of Chinese Music and conductor of the UNSW Chinese Music Ensemble, who currently serves as a flutist in the Twelve Girls Band. The orchestra aims to inherit Chinese musical culture, striving to provide more international stage opportunities and development space for young people.
Participating in an orchestra offers a myriad of benefits compared to solo practice. It effectively enhances solo performance skills from various perspectives, broadens horizons, enhances artistic cultivation, fosters better listening, cooperation, and critical thinking abilities. Additionally, it significantly improves sight-reading and performance skills, preparing individuals for larger stages in the future. The Australian Youth Chinese Orchestra provides ample opportunities for members to listen, practice, and collaborate on a plethora of musical treasures, allowing them to experience the true charm of music through repeated teamwork.
Recruitment Guidelines:
Orchestra instruments include: Guzheng, dizi (bamboo flute), erhu, pipa, zhongruan, yangqin, liuqin, sheng, zhonghu, gaohu, cello, double bass, and other categories.
Prepare a 3-minute performance video (at least Grade 3 level), with the choice of any piece.
Suitable age groups: 6-12 years old, 13-21 years old.
